I haven't really liked what I've read so far. It feels like there are no stakes and the characters are kinda very loosely written. Arturo gets bored of Alicia immediately after running away with her, and at first starts looking for a way to get out of being with her. Literally like four pages later he starts talking about "how can I win Alicia's trust again". What? He still has to go to Casanare because he's a wanted criminal back home but that does not mean that he magically likes Alicia again, the only things that happened were that Alicia cried a little bit and told him he should leave her, and he was about to leave. Alicia's backstory seems a little more interesting that the current plot. Alicia wanted to marry her cousin--which I was surprised wasn't really talked about at all--but her family wants to marry her to some rich guy. This is when Arturo comes in and asks her to run away with him. It's a bit more interesting because what happened to the cousin then? He's probably not okay with Arturo just running away with her, and, if she could run away all this time, why didn't she do it with the cousin? This could potentially be an interesting subplot, but it also could just be a dumb thing with no reason, so whatever.
There's also this bit of dialogue that seemed weirdly forced. Artur says "I'm broke", Alice replies saying: "It's not the protection of your money I'm asking for, but of your heart." What does this mean. This implies she ran away with him for protection, not for love, but again, couldn't she have just ran? She kind of confirmed this too when she told Arturo to just go away and leave her alone. She could be referring to not having to marry the finance guy or whatever, but she's wanted either way, heart protection or not, so genuinely what is she talking about. Then Artur responds saying he already gave her this, but he's just lying there because whatever heart protection means, I'm sure "getting bored of her" nullifies it.
